Some people make the mistake of thinking that being justified means that they have to try to be a “better person”. They mistakingly think that if their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds they will somehow find favor with God. This is an all or nothing situation. Either we obey everything in the law perfectly, or we are subject to the curse. There is no in between. Since it is impossible to live a perfect life and never sin, the only way to escape punishment from sin is to have faith in Jesus, who already took our punishment for us.

Recently we have been informed of several celebrity deaths, including Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. When a celebrity dies, he or she must face God, just like you or I must face Him, and God holds no partiality. Every person must account for his life, whether he is a beggar in the streets or a rich millionaire with all the fame in the world.

I love to listen to Christian testimonies, and hear how God has completely changed the life of someone who was once walking in darkness, but now walks in light. When someone places their faith in Jesus Christ and repents of sin, God does amazing things in that person’s life. It is a work in progress, but you can immediately see that the person has a new desire to love God and live for Him.
I love this song by Phil Joel because it shows how a Christian is truly changed.

What does God know about you? The obvious answer is EVERYTHING. But when you stop and really consider what God knows, you may find that it is quite comforting in the sense that He is intimately acquainted with everything you do and His love for you is more than you can even comprehend. On the other side, it is convicting that God knows everything. He knows the wrong intentions of our heart, the impatient words we uttered to a friend or family member, and the secret sins that no one else knows about. Read what the bible has to say.

To go from terrorist to Christian, supporter of Islam to supporter of Israel, is truly a 180 degree turn. I was amazed by this story of 3 former Islamic terrorists who now risk their lives to live for Jesus Christ. Their testimonies tell of what Christ can do to change a life.

Have you ever felt flooded by tears that just won’t stop? God knows each and every tear that falls from your eyes and He understands the pain behind the tears. I’ve been there, and have found myself wondering why God allows particular circumstances in my life. Ecclesiastes 7:14 says, “In the day of prosperity be happy, but in the day of adversity consider—God has made the one as well as the other…”.

Have you looked up at the starry sky lately? The bright lights contrasted by the blackness of night is truly amazing. Our nearest star system is Alpha Centauri, and it is 4.35 light years away. That is the closet star system….yet there are so many other stars beyond our reach or knowledge. God is the creator of the nearest and farthest stars, and everything in between. By His power he created them, named them, and He knows where each one exists.

Bay Area News reported a story about a teen girl who outsmarted her doctors by correctly diagnosing herself with Crohn’s disease, after her doctors missed it and said that she had irritable bowel syndrome.
Apparently she was taking a Biomedical Problems class and pathologists came to the class to teach the students how to correctly diagnose slides. Later she took slides of her own intestinal tissue to the class. Looking at one of the slides, she thought she found something and called over her teacher. The teacher snapped a picture of the slide and sent it to a pathologist. The pathologist confirmed that it was a granuloma.

In browsing different forums and discussion boards I’ve noticed that a lot of people are VERY angry with God. And while each person may be angry for different reasons, I can’t help but think that their anger is pointless. By pointless I mean that the anger will not accomplish anything. The bottom line is that God can do whatever He wants.

I like asking and answering questions on Yahoo Answers. I recently asked the question, “What would you most like to ask a Christian?” I received 22 responses and I decided to answer a few at a time. I won’t pretend to have all the answers, but I will do my best to find a response that reflects a biblical viewpoint. Some of my answers will be links to other sites that have already answered the question, much better than I ever could. Here are my responses to the following questions:

“I don’t need God; I’m in control of my own life”. I’ve heard this phrase, or different versions of this phrase thrown around a lot. No one wants to feel out of control or unable to change the negative things in life. And we do have a certain measure of control over our lives. If I don’t like where I’m living I can move. If someone doesn’t like their job they have the option to look for a new job.

I recently read a news story in Truth’s in the Word, about a pastor and his wife, David and Mary Jones, who were told that they could not hold a bible study in their home, unless they were ready to pay tens of thousands of dollars to San Diego County. I was shocked to say the least; especially since I live in California and have family in San Diego who regularly attend bible studies. I decided to read more.

I recently started listening to music by Shawn Mc Donald and I’ve been encouraged by the words and music. I found his testimony and thought I’d post it. He was saved out of a life of drugs and drug dealing. I thought it was amazing that he had never picked up a guitar until after he became a Christian. It’s evidence that a transformed heart wants to sing praises to God.

There are many that profess to know God but by their deeds they deny Him (Titus 1:16). Paul Washer gives an impassioned plea in this video. He says, “There’s only one thing that gave me a sleepless night; There’s only one thing that troubled me all through out the morning….”

How many opportunities has God given you to follow Him? How many times has He sent someone to talk to you about the bible? How many times have you seen the beauty of nature and known in your heart that someone had to be behind it? How many times has your life been spared when an accident was just a hair away? God gives us opportunities to turn to Him but those opportunities will not last forever.
