Thank you for your time. You're probably the only one who didn't get annoyed and chase me off while callling me a disrespectful child.

Your opinion was interesting and informative but I won't be following that path anytime soon. Sorry to disappoint but i still see no reason compelling enough to consider it. In fact it's a bit more distasteful, but not by your fault I assure you.

Again,I'm sorry for any ofense I have inflicted and thank you for your patience.

May Fortune smile upon you and Hope keep you standing.

Hi Ariel,

Thanks for your recent reply. Can I ask what contradictions you are referring to? Also, God doesn't threaten non-existence. He promises hell for all those who don't turn to Him. The good news is that He offers salvation to all those who put their trust in Him. Check out
http://walk-in-light.com/2009/05/26/the-heart-of-the-gospel/

You asked how I know. When someone puts their faith in Christ He transforms their heart and gives them the Holy Spirit. The bible says that the Spirit is given as a pledge. The Holy Spirit works in the life of a Christian in ways that are undeniable. The bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:14 "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Why do we need God when life is unbearably hard? Because He strengthens us and gives us peace and rest. Ariel, God loves you and the fact that you are thinking and talking about it now is evidence that God is drawing you. I would encourage you to continue searching and asking questions.

But how do you know?

I have read the bible, and i've gone to catachism but all i see and hear is contradictions. You say God just wants our love but sometimes it sounds as if he's threatening us with nonexistance after death if he doesn't get it. 'Only through Him shall salvation be achieved,' or something like that.

And if this is so, what happens to the billions of others who practice differant religions or just don't believe? Are we damned? Are we destined for Hell/Underworld/Pergatory/Puerorum?

You say trusting in our own strength is trusting in something that'll eventually fade. Of course it'll fade at times, it's inevitable. Life is sometimes unbareably hard. But why do we need God in times like these? Again, he doesn't do much. Our own strength on the other hand does fade at times, but never goes away completely. Our own strength gets us through at the end of the day. That and the support of family and friends.

So again, How do you know?

I'm sorry. I guess i'm just too practical to put my trust in this.

Thanks for your comment Ariel and there is no offense taken. You asked why such lengths are taken to share Christianity with you. The reason I am sharing with you is because I care about your eternal destiny. It is true that I don't know you, but the God who created you knows you intimately and He is working in your heart even now, as He is giving you the opportunity to learn more about Him. There are no coincidences.

What's the point of God? God has always existed and He wants our love and worship. The bible is an amazing book that was written by men but inspired by God. I'm wondering if you have read any of the bible? If you haven't, I would challenge you to read the book of John. As far as believing in your own strength, that will only last for a time. Our own strength/health/resolve can easily weaken under any number of circumstances. To rely on it is to trust in something that will eventually fade.

Please feel free to ask more questions.

I'll say this up front. I'm not intending to be rude, demeaning or any such thing. I'm simply curious. I do not mean to offend in any way.

Why do you put so much faith in a fairy tale? God isn't any more real than a dragon or gryphon. Pardon me. Why pray, why worship, why submit to an idea?

What's the point of God? This might sound materialistic but God doesn't feed, cloth or house a family. He doesn't protect them from harm. What does he do, exactly? You can talk to him all you want but nothing happens. He doesn't give encouragement or a kind word now and then.

The bible was written by mortals. How do you know someone didn't just get a little over-obsessive and turn a fantasy novel into a religion?

Please understand that I don't mean to offend. I just want to know why people will go to such lengths to get me to join Christianity no matter how many times i say no. These are only a few of my questions, tell me why fighting is a bad decision. Tell me why believing in my own strength instead of relying on a deity's is pointless. I'm curious.
