Why do we need to be saved? We need to be saved from the penalty of our sin, which is eternal separation from God in hell. Because God is Holy and Just He must punish sin. But He has provided a way of escape for us by sending Jesus to die for us. The bible says that if we place our faith in Jesus we will be saved. The salvation message is full of hope because we can have confidence that Jesus paid the debt that we owe on the cross. But to be saved you must believe and repent.

Living Dangerously

I was watching the movie,”God’s Outlaw: The Story of William Tyndale” the other day and I was struck by his courage to spread the word of God in a society that saw it as a criminal act. He lived in a time where the Catholic church had the bible in Latin, but refused to allow the people to have the written word of God in English. They believed that it was the church’s responsibility to teach the scriptures, and that the people should not read the bible …

Which Way are You Headed?

Jesus said in Matthew 7:13,14 says, “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it.”

The Power of the Cross

The power of the cross is that Christ’s sacrifice frees us from the penalty of sin and from the slavery of sin. When we put our faith in Jesus Christ and believe in Him, He changes the heart and transforms the sinner into a new person. Understanding what Jesus did for us on the cross is the first step towards the path of salvation.

My response to:
“Don’t get me wrong. I’m a Christian, I believe in heaven and hell, and I would thouroughly enjoy heaven. But honestly, if I died and got there, simply to find out that great men like Ghandi and Einstien were not admitted simply because they were not Christian, while terrible men like Fred Phelps were simply because they did believe in the Christian God, I think I would excuse myself, and rather live somewhere else for eternity.”

How Suffering Changes Us For Good

Wouldn’t we all like to get the lesson without the suffering? I know I would, but that just isn’t how life works. Sometimes we are tested by things that threaten to break us and bring us down to points of despair we have never felt before. What kind of tests am I speaking of?

Beauty From Ashes

I saw something the other day that amazed me. I was driving on the freeway and passed by a span of mountains that had been burned black by a fire awhile back. The trees looked barren and the branches held no leaves. But what amazed me was that the beauty of spring had touched this mountain and green grass was beginning to cover the blackness of the soil. The contrast of the black and the green was quite staggering and it really was a lovely site to see. It reminded me that the difficulties in life can often be like the fire that burned that mountain.

Jesus Christ: Liar, Lunatic, or God?

Who is Jesus? Is He a liar, a lunatic, or was He God? This is a question that has eternal significance.
Who do you say Jesus is? In Matthew 16 Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”Jesus asked again, “But what about you?” “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
