The Power of the Cross

21 July 2009 2 Comments

When Jesus died on the cross He made the ultimate sacrifice. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” That is the heart of the gospel.

The power of the cross is that Christ’s sacrifice frees us from the penalty of sin and from the slavery of sin. When we put our faith in Jesus Christ and believe in Him, He changes the heart and transforms the sinner into a new person. Understanding what Jesus did for us on the cross is the first step towards the path of salvation.

1 Corinthians 1:18

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
