Which Way are You Headed?

26 July 2009 No Comment

Jesus said in Matthew 7:13,14 says, “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it.”

It’s harder to take the narrow path because it doesn’t seem to be the easiest way to go. The broad path is much wider with more room and easy access. The broad pathway might even look nicer….but the broad path leads to destruction. What is Jesus talking about here? He is talking about the path of life that you take. The broad path is the path of the world.

Colossians 2:8 says, “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of this world, rather than according to Christ.”

The broad path follows materialism, vanity, lust, empty religion, and self worship. 1 John 2:15 says, “Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t love people or enjoy things. It just means that your heart is not with this world because your heart is with Christ.

Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me.”

Those are strong words. Those 3 things; the way, the truth, the life are all about what path you are taking, who you believe, and whether you will accept salvation or not. If you want to reach God, you must go through Christ, the Son of God. A lot of people believe that there are many paths to God, but Jesus said that no one comes to the Father but through Him.
