Rekindling Your Love For Christ

As Christians we find that at times our heart grows cold in our affection for Christ. The business of life and the affection for other things gets in the way of what matters most. In this video, John Mac Arthur says, “Being a Christian is about loving Christ so much that you want to know Him, so much that you want to exalt Him, so much that you want to serve Him, so much that you want to be with Him, so much that you want to tell others about Him.”

Do you have an overwhelming, consuming affection for Christ?

How much do you love Jesus Christ?

Do you love Him more than you loved Him in the past?

Can anything separate us from Christ’s love for us?
Romans 8:35 asks, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?”

The answer comes in Romans 8:38,39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Ask Yourself These Questions:

1. Does the love of Christ control everything I do? Or is there something else than controls what I do?
2 Corinthians 5:14
For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;
2. Have I given over the reigns of my life to Christ?
Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
3. Do I understand how deep the love of Christ is for me?
Ephesians 3:18-19
may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the
love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure
of all the fullness of God.
4. Do I pray that I will love Christ more?
2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.
5. Am I living for Christ or have I been living for myself?
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And
he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them
and was raised again.

How to Love Jesus More

1. Obey Jesus–The first way we can love Christ more is to obey Him.
John 14:15
” If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
John 15:10
” If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love;

2. Learn more about Jesus–We can learn more about Jesus by reading what the bible says about Him.
A good place to start is by reading the gospels. Read 12 Bible Study Guides to Learn More About Jesus Christ”

3. Meditate on the character of Christ
Meditating on Who Jesus is will quicken your love for Him as you think about His character.
Read “100 Biblical Names and Titles of Jesus”

4. Meditate on what Jesus did for you
Think about what Jesus did for you on the cross. To better understand this check out “Heart of the Gospel”.
Philippians 2:5-8
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

5. Give Jesus everything
Philippians 1:21
To Live Is Christ
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Read “They Risked Everything for Jesus”
Read “Seeking a Pearl of Great Price”
Read, “Have You Left Your First Love?”

Read “Is Jesus Your First Love?”

    Two weeks ago I lost my second love. She went home to be with the Lord.
    But now I am renewing my first Love. We all need to be searching Jesus.

    I’m so sorry you lost your second love. I hope your love for Christ increases as you go through this difficult time. I know it’s hard as I lost my mom 2 1/2 months ago.

    ,you it feels so good that you have God in life..And as a youth it is stil difficult for me change..I am still undergoing changes..But I want CHRIST in my life..I want to walk with Him..I am His servant..and in our church i joined in our ministries one of those is teaching children in our sunday school and outreaches..I really love doing it
