I watched this video of Paul Washer preaching about having a passion for God, and I found myself thinking that anyone who doesn’t know God must think this is pretty extreme. Paul points out in the video that many think of God or Jesus Christ as an accessory to add to their lives. But God isn’t something to just add to our lives….He must be everything to us. The bible is full of verses that teach us that following after Jesus does require everything we have to offer.

Matthew 10:38
“And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”

2 Corinthians 5:14
“For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;”

Deuteronomy 6:5
“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”

Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

Philippians 1:21
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Philippians 3:7-8
“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ”
